Just found your blog while looking for Chinese names for our cuties. Wonder if you are referring to Carolyn Custis James here? If not , I highly recommend you check her books, blog, etc. out. Two I can personally recommend are The Gospel of Ruth: Loving God Enough to Break the Rules and When Life and Beliefs Collide.

Yes the world has surely warped the meanings of many biblical words and concepts. It has surely taken away the glorious nature of God-designed submission...

i remember hearing about the meaning of that word as well. i also remember a sermon on biblical womanhood and our college pastor saying: "The husband needs THE help, and the wife needs TO help." haha pretty funny...that kinda stuck in my mind.

This post reminds me of a sermon I heard as a freshmen in college and definitely helped for my position about what it means for the wife to be the helper of her husband.

I remember the pastor talking about how woman shouldn't see it as an insult to be a "helper" but rather as a compliment. A man is not able to do things on his own and as such needs the assistance of someone who can help and serve him.

anyways, thanks for the post and the reminder :)

p.s. missing your family! (even though I saw you guys about 2 days ago.)
